很明顯改變句意
不過這題的that指代哪一個先行詞,我倒是想要請教一下

我也選A，不過我也不太確定that的先行詞是啥。
我猜that的先行詞即為processes。
Research during the past several decades on the nature of language and (during?) the processes that produce and make it understandable.
這樣合理嗎？

我覺得not...but...這個片語的意思應該為"不是...而是..."的意思!!另外我的分析為Research (during the past several decades) on the nature of language and the processes (that produce and make it understandable)
during the past several decades為時間副詞
research on 兩方面,一方面為nature of language,另一方面為the processes...而that則用來說明processes!!

所以在句意來講應該也通。

恩這樣似乎比較合理 :P

我認為C錯在by which it is produced and understood，使用被動卻沒有動作發起者的蹤影，而且句意變的很奇怪，所以不選。A較好。

這一題我覺的A怪怪的

1.produce和make都是復數, 所以很明顯它是指代the processes.
that 後面所接的produce這個動詞是及物動詞做主動時後面必須要接受詞否
則會造成語意不清, 再者, make it understandable的it在這裡指代誰呢?
它可以是指較接近它的nature of language也可以指research, 到底是那一個?
造成指代不清.

A 的語意實在很難解釋.相對我覺的C較用被動by which語意上較清楚

我的想法多指教 :P

很明顯的用not A but B把句意改變了

A rather than B=>是A不是B
A instead of B=>是A不是B

很明顯的用not A but B把句意改變了

題目有做轉換...A instead of B=not B but A...
所以句意還是一樣!!

not A But B的句型
突顯了B的重要性,也就是老莫說的由輕到重
在AC句意沒有明顯差別的情況下
C比較符合修辭的標準

傾向支持(A)是較好的選項(被動少選). it is produced and understood by the processes 說來不太合理(應該是 by somenone 吧!), 雖然 by which = whereby, 儘管如此,被動仍然沒有必要.

這題我覺得是C耶...原因如下:

Research on the nature of language and the processes by which it is produced and understood has revealed not underlying simplicity but great complexity

by which 就是說明藉由這個processes, language是怎麼產生跟被瞭解的

我排除A的理由如下:

Research on the nature of language and the processes that produce and make it understandable has revealed great complexity instead of underlying simplicity.

紅色字體部份, produce 跟 make 的受詞一致, 但修飾make的understandable會與produce造成岐義, 也就是 processes that produce it understandable....句意甚怪, 此外, processes怎麼會自己主動產生跟製造language呢? language應該是被製造出來的

以上為我的想法, 不知大夥是否認同 ;))

not 的位置不對: not underlying simplicity 和 great comlexity 不平衡
正確寫法應該是 has not revealed underlying simplicity but (has revealed) great complexity
