[問題]OG(11th)51

這一題在OG60的帖子中有討論過,但是是討論有關代名詞的部份,我想了解in that ,when, for 的用法有何不同
我是選a,因為我覺得用in that並無不妥,但是OG說, in that 的表達方式是
overformal所以不能選,有大大可以解釋以下的答案為什麼是錯的?

關於in that我無法解釋, 因為這也是困擾我很久的問題, 不過其他選項可以簡單解釋:

(A) world in that a sacred truce was proclaimed during the festival’s month
(B) world, proclaiming a sacred truce during the festival’s month
注意, proclaiming是一個簡化的子句
本來應該是which proclaims之類的
省略寫法變成去掉which, proclaim是主動所以改動名詞
原本的which放在逗點後, 必定是形容逗點前方那個名詞,
而看看在逗點前方的是什麼? 是the Greek world !
但是後面這一大串proclaiming blabla...明明就是指Olympic
不合邏輯,不選
(C) world when they proclaimed a sacred truce for the festival month
這個when非常詭異
既不能代表the Greek world(--->感覺是地方而不是時間)
也不能代替Olympic,所以也不對
(E) world by proclamation of a sacred truce that was for the month of the festival
by後面要接動名詞喔~~~

in that 在GMAT中是可以當作正確選項的（雖然機率不高，但我在新PP裡有做到一題）。不過，這題有別的因素可以排除選項（A）：

(A)中的 festival's month 沒有 (D) 中的 month of the festival 來得好。

個人認為 in that = because

Only E, the best choice, clearly states that teratomas consist of tissues such as tooth and bone, and that such tissues are not normally found in the organ with the teratoma. Clear statement of this fact requires the repetition of tissues to establish the appositive--tissues normally found.... Without such repetition, A and B imprecisely state that the tooth and bone, as opposed to the tissues, are not normally found in the affected organ. Choices B and C alter the meaning with the use of like', that is, they suggest that the tissues are not tooth and bone, but only like them. The confused syntax of D states that their composition, not the tissues, is found in the organ....

當然啦 OG(11th)51和OG208兩題中都有其它錯誤可排除
但關於in that
11th中 又說in that over formal 實在還是有點霧煞煞

1.看5個選項，考分詞構句VS副詞子句、代名詞、所有格
2.再看題目，有表因果的意思，排除B、E；C不好，因為無因果且代名詞指涉錯誤；A不好，因為物的所有格應用 of
3.選D，for為可表因果的連接詞
PS:而in that 字典說
used for introducing an explanation of what you have just said, showing in what way it is true:

例The new system is better in that it provides faster access to the Internet.

(B) The Olympic Games helped ..., proclaiming... = The Olympic Games helped ..., and proclaimed ... ; proclaimed 的主詞是 Olympic Games 似乎不合邏輯
(C) they 如果指 Olympic Games 就有與前面相同的問題, 在這裡更明顯, 所以B 是不能選了; 如果指 the Greek world, 就應該用 it, 也講不通. 因此, C 可以很快排除

關於這題我想問一下A之所以錯是因為the festival's month不如the month of the festival嗎 ??
可是OG11對於此點隻字未題,還是真的 是因為in that的 用法太正式了(OG所言)??
我實在不知道 要怎麼 排除A選項?? 望高人指點迷津!!
