我是看到C感覺對就沒有繼續仔細讀下去, E選項我了解,可是不解為何C不對.
請大人指教

我認為是因為文中並沒有指到有關competitive advanatge
所以不選C

覺得 A 的說法和 author 所想要表達的意思還是有點差距，E 感覺起來沒什麼不妥：

A)It often fails to bring about the intended changes in companies’ compensation systems.

原文：Suggesting (that a company's performance can be improved in some other way than by altering its pay system (整個子句才是主詞))may be empirically correct but contrary to the consultants’interests.
意思是要 improve performance，althering pay system or other way 都可以，並不表示 chance compensation system 的 advice "often fail"。兩個方法都可以(can be)，別的方法也可以的說法也對(empirically correct)，沒有說哪一個方法更好或更不好(fail)

另, passage 最後一句： to the extent that changes in compensation create new problems。我自己是覺得這是說「如果」產生新問題，而不是指一定會有 new problem。extent 有程度大小的差別，也許沒問題，也許有問題。


E)It might be different if the consulting firms were less narrowly specialized.

原文：First, although some of these consulting firms have recently broadened their practices beyond the area of compensation, their mainstay continues to be advising companies on changing their compensation practices.

只說雖然 consulting companies 有在擴增業務範圍，但 compensation system 還是主要收入來源。暗示：如果業務範圍改變，就會提出別的範圍內的建議。

但是請仔細感覺句意
他其實是說
"就算有的顧問公司最近已經拓展他們的建議策略,
領域裡不再只有compensation,
但他們最後還是選擇建議公司改變compensation practices"

這證明了
不管顧問公司broaden與否
他就是喜歡建議company從labor rate開刀
因為他們有vested interest(借用一下23題C的辭彙)

所以
答案E假設只要顧問公司再broaden一點, 就會給不一樣的建議
這是沒道理的

比如我說:
雖然小明最近加薪兩萬塊, 他還是喜歡吃陽春麵度日
你推論:
只要小明再加薪兩萬塊, 他就會改吃牛肉麵

這肯定不通啊
首先, 他已經加薪還吃陽春麵, 證明他可能情有獨鍾, 所以加再多錢他有可能都吃陽春麵
況且, 未來的一切都是猜測, 過度臆斷的東西不適合輕易infer

RC要注意訊號字(因為ETS會從這裡設計題目), although是表對比(contrast)的訊號字。 although連接二個子句一定是一正一反。 although some.......broadened their practices beyond area of compensation, their mainstay continues to be advising companies on changing their compensation practices.

同色處形成對比，部分(some)跟大部分(mainstay)相反；而broadened their priactices .....也要跟contiunes to ....相反 ；也就是broadened their practices beyond area of compensation的言外之一就是not continue to be advising companies on changing their compensation practices.

A錯 因為文中明白指出managers find such advice palatable，所以managers常接納這些compensation-consulting companies' advice

我是看到C感覺對就沒有繼續仔細讀下去, E選項我了解,可是不解為何C不對.
請大人指教

new problems 不一定是 labor costs ,看起來不能由這段話推得喔!
這題是細節題,應該定位在 line 57 (考 furthermore)
