My thought is

distinguish between X and Y
==> 強調的是差異，X與Y之間的差別

distinguish X from Y
==> 強調的是以X為主的同Y的差異

題目中, Guemsey and Hereford 應該是屬於不同兩物體相較~
所以用between ~

應該要看句意~

distinguish between X and Y ---> 是指區分兩種不同群組
distinguish X from Y ---> 是指X為Y中的組成，而將X從中區別出來
因此本題中的 Guemsey and Hereford 是兩個不同的群組，要用between X and Y

I agree that "distinguish between X and Y " is better because it correctly conveys the meaning of the sentence.

"enable a skilled interpreter to distinguish between Guernsey and Hereford cows" means that the interpreter is enabled to see the small difference between both species, whereas "enable a skilled interpreter to distinguish Guernseys from Hereford cows" implies that the interpreter is enabled to tell which one is a Guernesy cow from a group of cows that are either Guernsey or Hereford. Why does an interpreter need to tell which one is a Guernsey cow? It is good enough if an interpreter is able to tell them apart.

However, I think the crux of the problem lies in the parallelism that must be maintained in the construction X and Y where X and Y are explicitly compared. The correct construction shall be either "Guernsey and Hereford cows" or "Guernseys and Herefords". If we say " Guernseys and Hereford cows", we introduce a shift in expression and violate the parallelism.

Moreover, E is mainly flawed because here 'grazing" modifies only Hereford cows when it shall modify both species.
