另外 , vivian 提到了改變句意 的問題 ,根據我殘存的記憶 ,所謂的改變句意,應該不是這樣判斷的 (記錯的話 還請不吝指正)

通常,在ETS的考題中 ,若原選項A 出現助動詞 ,但在其他的答案選項中有些沒有出現助動詞 ,
這樣的狀況,其他選項以"改變句意"的策略來研判的可能性極高.
原因是 : 助洞詞常用來表達假設性的,可能性的句意 ,要在完全沒有假設性句意的句子中,天外飛來一個助動詞,醬的句子比較難造.
所以 ,若A選項有助動詞 , 其他沒有助動詞的選項 ,有可能是改變句意(句子的語氣)的錯誤選項
反之 ,如本題, 若原題(A)沒有助動詞 ,但是其他選項中出現了助動詞
這樣的題目9成是送分題 ! (說是送分題,是因為這種類型的題目,出題老師會"假好心"的讓這個助動詞都同一個長像,如本題,就光一個would )

題目的設計,通常在沒有畫線的地方 一定會出現一個清楚明白的字眼,告訴我們 ~ ~ 這是假設語氣唷 ^^ , 遇到這種題目,先往有助動詞的選項瞧,可省掉不少時間.

進階的變化考法,就是在 could / be able to / be capable of 或是 will / would
這幾的小地方動手腳而已 ~~

我剛開始作SC的時候,非常著迷於 "改變句意"這個用法 ,覺得非常好用
一段時間之後開始覺得莫北北的這條規則是騙人的 ~~ 常有例外,一點不好用
但是現在想想,是自己實力不夠 ,才沒有掌握到老師所提的經髓

改變句意的規則,用再判讀長句時,我自己覺得非常好用唷 ^^

好像有規定that前不能加逗號

that 在這裡當連接詞引導名詞子句,前面的逗點來自插句,是沒有問題的.但是這裡的逗點的確放的不恰當:把插句拿掉會發現句子變成這個樣子-- (C) Retail sales rose 8/10 of 1 percent in August that it more than doubled the 1.4 percent growth rate ... => 1. 改變句意, that 子句變成是 rose 的補語,原來的意思應該是 expectation 的同位語, 2. it 不知指啥?

文法上 that 前面不能加逗點,是因為當它作關係代名詞時,只能用於限定用法.
