A significant number of complex repair jobs carried out by Ace Repairs have to be reworked under the company’s warranty. The reworked jobs are invariably satisfactory. When initial repairs are inadequate, therefore, it is not because the mechanics lack competence; rather, there is clearly a level of focused concentration that complex repairs require that is elicited more reliably by rework jobs than by first-time jobs.

題目說如果"initial repairs are inadequate"=>決不是因為mechanics 個人的問題

那一定是assume(A) 即使是第一次do rework的mechanics 他們和其他mechanics沒兩樣

那一定是assume(A) 即使是第一次do rework的mechanics 他們和其他mechanics沒兩樣


那D為何不對?
因為若是做第二次會被處罰那不就表示有他因?
所以不就也要排除這個他因嗎?

(D)說 Ace repairs不會penalize 那些have worked complex repair jobs隻後又要重新reworked的workers (這個答案感覺像是再講rework之後 Ace repairs會如何如何..)

題目是要問假設喔 假設為何Ace Repair持有上面的觀點
Ace Repair, rework不事mechanics個人專業能力不足 而是concentration問題

D是有點無關的反向陳述
若把not拿掉會變weaken
但本題是問假設

他們假設沒有第一線跟第二線人員的差別
就像急診室幾乎都是實習醫師一樣
若假設沒差
但事實上有差
就會出現文中狀況
因此是A

D牠們假設沒有處罰
講嚴格一點算無法推論
因為就像實習醫師經驗本來就不夠
就算處罰也沒用
還是可能醫死人..

I think that sentence can change to this form and this way makes the sentence more clear

rather, there is clearly that complex repairs require a level of focused concentration that is elicited more reliably by rework jobs than by first-time jobs.

這題我也是第一次做完傻眼, 又是沒單字搞不懂題意,
隨便亂選了個答案, 事後又是想了好久,
想請各位高手給個意見, 不知道能不能這樣解:

"在Ace Repairs許多複雜的修理都要二次施工, 並且總是讓人滿意,
當第一次施工不完善時, 不是因為技師的能力不足,
而是因複雜修理所需的專注力, 比較能被二次施工引發, 而不是第一次施工"

文章說第二次的施工比較好, 但又不是因為技師的技術不足,
(A)選項是假定這兩組人是一樣好, 而不是第二次的技師比第一次的技師好,
只是因為第二次的修理比較能激發專注力,
所以這題有考到比較基準的問題嗎?
因為如果這個基準不在同一點上, 那麼文章的推論就無法成立,
變成是人員的差異造成修理結果不同, 而非修理過程中的專注力被激發的問題,
還請大家不吝賜教囉~

個人覺得GWD 3-32是經典題

另外assumption題的精神是:
『如果assumption不成立,題目的結論即無法成立』

答題時可用這個道理來檢驗選項
加個not會導致結論不成立→正確答案
加個not結論照樣成立→錯誤答案

我覺得結構是這樣的:
there is clearly a level of focused concentration (that complex repairs require) that is elicited more reliably by rework jobs than by first-time jobs

複雜修理工作需要一定程度的集中專注力, 才可以引出比第一次修理更可靠的結果

意思是說, 第一次修理失敗, 所以第二次的修理人員就會更加集中注意力來做修理工作, 這和題目說的: 和修理人員工藝沒有關係
