discomfit : vt. 使混亂, 使困窘(=disconcert)
Example sentence:
The governor appeared to be discomfited by the
reporter's question, and he struggled for a way
to change the subject.
記法:discomfit=dis+com+fit(合適的, 恰當的, 健康的)
=使(人)整個不適
說明:
如果是身體的不適就是身體不舒服(=discomfort)
如果是心靈的不適就是困窘、 狼狽之意(=discomfort)
如果(搞破壞)使(參加concert的人)心裏不舒服,聽不成音樂會,
音樂會場當然一片叫罵聲,混亂自不在話下(=disconcert)
結論:
Most of the recent commentaries agree that the sense
"to discomfort or disconcert" has become thoroughly established and
is the most prevalent meaning of the word(discomfit).
