想請問一下強者們
可不可以教我一下關於double的用法
我每次都搞不清楚double的詞性,
看解釋也看不是很懂,到後來都用背的

例如

A survey by the National Council of Churches showed that in 1986 there were 20,736 femaile ministers, almost 9 percent of the nation's clergy, twice as much as 1977
a. twice as much as 1977
b twice as many as 1977

正確答案D的double是動詞嗎?
為什麼不用doubling the figure for 1977呢?

還有GWD1-38

more than double the 1.4 percent growth rate 中間有省略什麼字嗎?看起來很怪,不太了解他的結構耶..
另外,有沒有D選項中的more than doubling that of的用法呢?

之前在美加補過,老師有說過這裡的double是當前限定詞(如名詞短語all the time,both our children中的 all和both)
當double後面接the figure, the number, the amount, the money, the time , the volume,他應賅是當前限定詞的,
這是我查longman 字典的解釋:
double predeterminer
twice as much or twice as many: It's worth double the amount I paid for it.
