請問可以解釋一下這篇文章的大意嘛???
我來回看了好幾遍...但是還是不太能完全理解~~~~

這個organized labor之前沒有加the...所以我認為不是之前提過的
我的理解是作者只是說
有些學者會把有組織的勞工視為捍衛非裔美國工人的人
對照前一段....
歷史學家大概是期望非裔美國工人聯盟應該要爭取公民權...
但是學者只認為非裔美國人的組織只想捍衛一些基本的權力

第一段：
有一派歷史學家認為，
1. 戰時的情況讓一個活躍的聯盟成立(由union 跟African American組成)，而這聯盟促使civil right 的動機發生。
2. 戰後這聯盟的衰退使得戰後civil right運動失去了機會。
>> infer：union跟African American是同一陣線
另一派學者認為：
1. Organized labor (指的應該就是Union) 始終都是保障白人工作者權益的
>> infer：union跟African American是不同一陣線

作者說：兩種說法無法妥協


第二段：
作者態度進來。
進階說明union當時，不是maintaining 戰前的狀況，就是爲所有人的工作權利著想...(舉例說明)。
儘管當時union代表常聲明這些理想，但實際上，union愛死了他們根深蒂固的interests.
(這裡我也想問，interests是指什麼？我猜是說戰前保護白人享有特權的做法)
這些進展加劇了工會面對的兩難，強迫他們面對與自身作為的矛盾。
