1.我在1/31寄出申請件（via UPS），學校在2/20來信跟我說文件都收齊了，並且已經交給審查委員審核了，現在已經過了2個禮拜了，一點消息都沒有，這是正常的嗎？

We have received all of the required elements of your application and it is now in preliminary review with our selection committee. We will be in touch with you again in the next few weeks regarding any further information we may need from you.
2.會如此擔心的原因是看過學校網頁，personal interview is requirement（graduate school說的），但系上網頁又說the admissions committee will invite the strongest candidates to come for interview and interviews must be completed before march 1？我都沒有收到invitation是要再等等還是真的就是沒有了可以自己要求interview嗎？
我已經寫過很多次信去問過了，但都無消無息滴~
請大家給個判斷吧!

As I know , recently admissions committee begins to invite
candidates to do the campus visiting and interview.
( whole Phd program candidates)

Maybe u will get a phone call tonight !

1.ccuturandot:如果我沒記錯，你/妳應該是cornell的學生，想請問cornell會很重視AT成績嗎?我是申請Ph.D program,上傷咖和CD潛水了一陣子，大部份牛人都說Ph.D program比較重視research ability,我的AT很不理想,其它的(出了3本書,4篇期刊和國科會計劃, teaching experience with almost 5 years and hotel w/e with 2 year)比較~有一滴滴把握!可是大陸牛人好多喔~真的是非常害怕~
2.erazer:真高興遇到同好，你/妳也是申請Ph.D program嗎?我的research interest focus 在 strategic management，希望有機會交流一下，目前知道有一位臺灣學生在唸Ph.D，其它都被大陸牛人攻佔囉~我們一起加油吧!

How come ? I know 2 students already got offer in 1st round.
For the 1st round applications , they got either ding or offer so soon. ( These are what they told me )

I and some 1st year MBA students just had dinner with 2 prospective students from TW last Thrusday. They all said that they got the interview invitation so soon.

Do you want to call the admission office on Monday ?

Did you talk with some professors in Hotel School ?
What specific field are you going to study ?

Ya...to get Phd offer from so called top schools is so tough.
I do not know how do they evaluate you ! There is a Phd student
from TW in hotel school now. But she already has a master degree
in Cornell hotel school and publishes 2 papers .

In my department, there are around 300~400 phd applicants per
year and we just give 2~3 offers. I think that come here to talk with professors directly is the best way to inrease the odd to get offers.....

謝謝你的回覆.My research interest will concentrate on strategic management and tourism, I know it's very tough for enrolling Cornell. I alreay e-mail and express my eager to be one member of hotel school. Professors replied me nicely but formulation. The Dean of my graduate school is the alumni of Cornell and told me he would happy to do the phone recommendation for me, do u think is it will be beneficial for my application?

不過我覺得機會不大..大概是我的條件不夠好吧,所以學校對我沒有興趣...

Hi Eraser,

So far as I know, Cornell already sent out some interview invitations to Taiwan applicants. If you feel admission officers are not responsive to email, just make a phone call, even though you may still get the typical answer such as "the interview invite will be sent out till the deadline and please keep hope"... :P

原本我打算今天晚上打個電話給Johnson school的office
想不到剛剛收到他們的invitation...真是艱苦的等待阿...
不過晴天霹靂是..invitation不是phone interview...而是 on-campus的...
看來我得跟公司請假走這一遭了~
Johnson school應該是直得我這麼做的學校!

要來規劃一下我的時間表了.... = =+

感謝所有關心我以及給我建議的人..

我本想這星期結束前也忍不住要打電話給學校問一下～～
結果學校今天寄信跟我說可以上網查詢狀態～～
結果～～狀態終於從：資料沒收到～～轉變成資料收到～～正在審查中！
雖然申請第三輪 1/4投出去現在才有回音～～
我已經不敢報啥希望～～因為Johnson 真的是申請人太多勒

我也是生請地3rd,i got interview notification like 2 wks after i submitted my application. i thought result only come out on the notification date rite?

Cornell's interview is extremely tough, especially if it's with an adcom. I think it's very hard to crack the adcom interview. Many people with near-native fluency have been dinged by Cornell.

Given Cornell's relatively easy essays, I believe that Cornell places a great emphasis on the interview.

Flying out to Ithaca in Cornell's case may not always be a plus. If you can impress the ad com, do it. But as far as I know, few people have been able to win over the adcom either in person or over the phone.
