For Cornell?

I don't think you should think of MBA applications that way. Rather, I prefer to think of it in terms of tickets. You need to collect the right tickets before you are considered for admissions.

--Cornell emphasizes academics. So good grades or high class rank is almost a must. (I'd say this is the most important ticket for Cornell. A high GMAT won't necessarily compensate for low GPA)
--GMAT: relative to other top schools, this is less of an issue. I'd say 680 with good grades is probably sufficient.
--Essays: Easy
-- Interview: Super important (more important than other schools)

Cornell gives quite a number of interviews to Taiwanese students, but there are few admissions. But, if you check the BW stats, the overall probability of admissions after interview should be ~ 60%. But in Taiwan's case, it's pretty low. I'd say~25%, maybe even lower.

This is my reasoning as to why Cornell places such a great emphasis on interviews.
