Congratulations, Simon is ranked top 10 in Finance by WSJ and top 5 in Economics & Finance by FT. In terms of academic reputation in finance, U of R is really close to Chicago.
Because curiculuum is quite rigorous and score pattern follows a normal distribution, students can be competitive against one another. According to Princeton Review, Simon is ranked #2 in "most competitive students." Don't know if the cohort system can alleviate this issue. Perhaps a current student can help clarify.
According to some surveys, students praise that CMC work very hard, but due to a relatively small alumni base and smaller show-up of on-campus recruiters, Simon MBAs tend to have to spend more efforts to find jobs and relatively fewer of them secure offers through on-campus events, ie. more "networking" required.
Other advantages:
1) cheap and nice apartments can be found easily within 3 miles of the campus. Monthly rent usually includes heating - sounds like a bargain given Rochester's long winter-.
2) for music lovers, U of R has the most prestigious school of music.
Cheers,
