請給我些意見, 2007年多投幾家, or 轉戰2008年?

麻煩各位前輩給我些意見.

我目前還在等2007年的消息, 但是深深感覺希望渺茫,
因為目前有phone interview的學校都拒絕我了,
而其他deadline在一月初及二月初的學校也都沒有任何回音, 連interview邀請都沒有.

我的背景如下 :
GMAT : 600, TOFEL : 247, GPA : 2.99
WE : 2.25 year in a muti-natinal computer company as a fulfillment representative
Rejected : College of William and Mary, Case Western Reserve U, Ohio University, Rice University
Waiting : Northeastern U, North Carolina State U, U of Tennessee,Santa Clara U

看到版上今年MBA申請都不是很順利, 更讓我覺得自己的機會渺茫,
因此目前在思考是要在今年多投幾家, 亦或是再重新考GMAT和TOFEL轉戰2008年.
如果今年要再多投幾家的話, 目前思考的有 : U of Oklahoma, Thunderbird U, U of Buffalo, Drexel U
如果是要轉戰2008年的話, 我預計五月底辭職, 六月開始準備, 丟第一輪申請.

請各位前輩在這兩項選擇中給我ㄧ些指教與意見, 謝謝!

如果還想多投的學校 也是自己想念的學校
那為何不多投看看？說不定機會就在當中


當然如果多投的學校根本不是自己想念的
而是趕著今年出去 那我到覺得不用
不過要有心理準備 重新考試一定要比今年的高出許多
不然倒不需要再等一年

要是還是不知道該怎麼做
建議先多投 到時候如果有學校允許入學
你在考慮2008年也不遲

Sorry to hear what is happening to you.

You should be asking yourself why you are getting an MBA degree rather than asking for our opinions.

Those schools you applied to do not exactly fall into the top 15 category according to Mark Hsu. (Ask Mark/Top MBA/Career Discussion)
Therefore, which school you are going to does not really matter because they are ALL second rated schools. (According to Mark Hsu again)

You should come to study in the U.S. as soon as possible when the opportunity cost is considered.
Although unfortunately, you will not be making $100,000 plus a year, you will likely be making $50,000 to $100,000 after you receive your MBA degree.

Why wait?

On the other hand, if you were thinking to get into a top MBA program, you should probably wait for another year. In that case, do not waste you money on non-top 15 schools. University of Tennessee, University of Southern California, Ohio State University all has one thing in common – non-top 15 schools. There are only two types of schools accord to Mark Hsu; it is EITHER top 15 or non-top 15. Therefore, you are essentially receiving the same degree from a top 15 school and from a non-top 15 school.

Again, you are thinking to apply for more schools such like Purdue University or Ohio State University; you might as well to apply to University of Oklahoma. They are all the same. The only difference is going to Oklahoma is much cheaper than going to Ohio State or Purdue. You will probably end up with a same job and with a similar salary, BUT you ROI will be much higher by going to Oklahoma. That sucks for folks going to schools between top 20 to top 30. In reality, that has been the case at least for Taiwanese people.

In conclusion, you have to identify what the purpose of getting an MBA degree is. Answering that, you will know whether you should come or should wait for another year.

分享一下經驗! 如果想投Thunderbird應該不難只是學費貴了點!
投TB的時候要多強調多國經驗和工作經驗這是他們重視的!
投他的好處是不用面試而且10天就可以收到admission! (如果他想收你的話!)

我蠻同意Jason Lee 的說. BTW, 感覺樓主好像還沒很確定Why MBA? 你才工作2.25 years, 其實再等一年,想清楚方向, 也沒什麼不好.如果你真的確定今年要出去,那還是投吧 and 和在W/L 上的學校確認一下,是否可以捕Essays or something.

the motivation and school selection should not be according to anyone else but rather to your own judgement
top 15 are basically for GMAT score around 700, not for 600 level
while every program has its own core value even after top 15 if you know the detail logic about MBA programs
people graduate from schools after top rankings still have the right to live on this planet
while there's no quarentee to success even you own a title from top school

coming blindly with shotgun strategy may also cause a disaster to your life
according to too many bloody failures demostrated by MBA predecessors
you may invest yourself in wrong field before you have clear idea and then earn nothing back
while it's relatively minority for Taiwanese MBA graduates to earn such stated salary
most Taiwanese MBA graduates (including top 15) end up find no suitable jobs in the U.S. and go back for "promising" US$ 30k per year job,
where did that ROI and risk management come from?
it's not make you happier for your life under your debt and deeper career misary
just another potential career switch point after another couple of years
next time you need to take care of your own family and pay debt by yourself

these schools author got rejections require mostly AT 650 or a bit higher
also heavier work experience
while no complete results or nagative signs for other waiting schools
so keep in faith

the only sign is that there's no clear similarity or relationship among those programs
it might link back to what Kawaiipin said about why MBA
author might dig a bit deeper about career goals and specific needs
than keeps improving your career clearity for specific programs

but anyway
giving up before you hear the ending sign is never an entrepreneurial move
