我常搞不清楚like跟as要怎麼判別(用在舉例之外的情形時)
有聽過一種說法是as後面接子句,like後面接名詞
可是做過一些題目好像又不是如此
而且好像有as跟like時,通常都是as對....
煩請各位大大指點一下囉 感激不盡

如果是 舉例 用法
要用 such as
口語上可以用like 但在考修辭的時候不行

as 如果是表示身份 是prep 後面直接接名詞

as 如果要做比較時 常跟like一起考
這時候的as是連接詞 要接子句
like則是prep 直接接名詞

步驟一：抓大錯
題幹..."Cooperative apartment houses"絕對不可能接to be a dwelling ----- E砍了
步驟二：抓小錯
句意..."dwellings that must operate as/like businesses/business"
看的很模糊 但仔細想一想句意
dwellings必須像business那樣的營運
句意裡 做比較的是"營運這件事情, 營運這個動作"
有動作就有主詞 主詞加動作--- 就是一個完整的句子
一個完整的句子做比較... 用like者必砍
----- B,C,D砍了

選A... GMAT輕鬆又愉快:P

因為 like 是介係詞,不能接完整的動詞, 所以比較包含動詞的時候必敻連接詞 as.
因此解題就在於看不看得出有動作. i.e. cooperative apartment houses 像 businesses 一般就好,還是像 businesses 一般"營運"; 如果是比較名詞,會用形容詞來修飾:這一題沒有形容 apartment houses 怎樣怎樣. 如果比較動作, 就會出現動詞: operate. 所以選 as, 不選 like.

(E) 數量不一致: houses <> a dwelling => 不選
