Looking for temp. housing in Cleveland, OH (mid-late August)

Dear All,

I will be attending a on-eweek seminar in Cleveland, OH, in mid-August.
The course will take place in "Embassay Suites Hotel Cleveland-Downtown", but
their price is too high for a poor graduate student like me ($ 140/ night even
after special discount).

Now I am thinking about two possible options:

1. looking for a short-term sublease. If you happen to live in Cleveland and
want to sublease your room/apartment to someone else, please contact me. I
plan to stay in Cleveland from Aug 13th through 20th or so.

2. finding a cheap hotel.Please advise if you know some economic hotels around
the Embassay Suites Hotel (zip code: 44114), please let me know. Thanks!

Any help/ information will be highly appreciated.

Try using www.hotwire.com. Based on your date provided, a downtown 3-star hotel in Cleveland can be had for $59/night, which doesn't sound bad. Downtown Cleveland is fairly small, so as long as you are in downtown, you can just walk to anywhere within.

BTW, are you familiar with downtown Cleveland? How is the public transportation system there?

Well, I guess I can say I know enough, although it has been at least 3 years since I last visited there.

If you fly into Cleveland, you can take Rapid Transit (it's like subway but not underground) red line from the airport right into Downtown. It's reliable enough but may not be too safe late at night. Get out at Tower City stop, which is at the middle of Downtown and the best area. From there it's a close walk to just about any popular spot, like Jacobs Field for Indisans game (baseball), Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The Science Center, etc. The downtown has regular night life place as well, bars and pubs are not short. If you want to venture out a little bit, take the red line toward east to university circle (stop), where Case Western Reserve University locates. There you can enjoy Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Orchestra (top 3 orchestra in the U.S.), little Italy (great Italian food).
