On April 6, the MBA Curriculum Committee approved fairly substantial changes to the MBA curriculum.
These changes impact the incoming class of 2009 and were made to ensure that the Core Curriculum continues to prepare students as effectively as possible.
Major revisions include (see attached document for additional detail):
· Earlier start date for first year students (orientation begins August 9 and classes begin August 20).
· Pre-program to be entirely online (with assessment).
· Orientation extended to 1.5 weeks.
· Inclusion of a 1 credit Critical Thinking course (conducted during orientation).
· Organizational Behavior will no longer be taught as a mini-term course. It will be introduced during orientation and continued during Mini A and B in the form of 4 workshops. A third module will be conducted during re-orientation in year 2.
· Career Navigator will no longer be a mini-term course -- the majority of content will be covered during orientation.
· Fall mini-term length increased (Mini A = 8 weeks; Mini B = 7 weeks).
· In-class hours per week decreased to 14 (previously 19 and 18 for Mini A and B respectively).
The cumulative effect of these changes will be an increase in total Core credits (from 22.5 to 27), total elective credits (37.5 to 39), and total degree credits (from 60 to 66).
