本題沒啥好說 A,D決選 句意題 我選錯但後來看懂了就知道D對的一踏糊塗

關鍵點一 A是 colors去mark the passage of time 有如樹的年輪 好像有對 先保留
關鍵點二 D是layers of sendiment with XXXXXX 有如樹的年輪

各位看官 這題就是句意中的句意阿! A要like B 則這邊一層一層的堆積物
才會像數的年輪一圈一圈阿~

至於color自然就不像了 除非是一圈一圈的color :P

正如我之前的總結 所有SC真正的難題幾乎都是句意題 看不懂就是一翻兩瞪眼快點猜一個 猜對了分數上升 猜錯了掉下來

而Gmat七百分實力者考到660~740的range 基本上就是由這種題目的對錯產生

D.用marking避掉了修飾的問題，layers of sediment 去like 『 the rings in a tree trunk』。

BTW，做PP的時候可以發現「規則」常不適用，或是說「規則」有優先順序之分，如果一開始就使用簡潔原則，很可能就把答案刪掉。要非常小心。顯見新的題庫已經把『due to必錯』，『that is必錯』視為學生的弱點了。另外在PP也可以選到being的選項了。

層層的沉積物無法看出山脈的年齡,是colors透露的訊息而得知時間

marking 整句上看來好像是修飾colors又像是補充說明整句

I still agree A is much better than D.

這個我不太懂。 總覺得因該后面要有逗號隔開 with phrase， layers of sediment 才能 compare with the rings in a tree trunk。 可以麻煩大大從文法上解釋嗎？
大全987-Q55 的答案因該是（E）吧。 helpful in 比較慣用。

喔! 看懂了.關鍵在 like the rings 跟哪個比較 (layers of sediment vs colors).
是這樣的:
(D) been able to see layers of sediment {in the gaping canyon}, {with different colors} marking... like the rings...
marking 修飾 layers of sediment; 藏得真好!讓人不容易搞清楚. => rings 跟 layers of sediment 比較
(A) seen layers of sediment in the gaping canyon, with different colors {that mark...} like the rings...
=> rings 跟 colors 比較
因為 colors 不會像 rings, 而 layers of sediment 才會有 rings 的樣子,所以 (D) 對.

with different colors 的作用是副詞, in the gaping canyon 也是副詞, 這使 marking 得以直達 layers of sediment 去修飾它.
like the rings 前面不能加逗點,加了變成修飾 time (i.e. time, like the rings), 句意就離很遠了.
