怪了, 找老半天沒找到這題, 希望沒有重複post文

可以看出題目前後有對比的意思，所以用and 當連接詞，這樣就可以刪去(B)和(C)
(E) but with的用法很奇怪, 所以也可以快速刪去

關於A和D我掙扎了許久, OG的解釋讓我很頭疼:^)
(A)OG原文居然說分詞通常是要解釋主句, 延伸主句的意思, 但這裡需要對比(所以說分詞不好?!)
接下來又說 but引導的句子讓前後兩句內容一樣重要, 只有although引導的從屬子句才能表現出補充說明主句的感覺....

想請教大家but 和although的不同

but 是對等連接詞,不知道它要怎麼跟 "modify the first clause" 扯上關係? (i.e. 想到哪裡去了?)
因此 OG 在 (A) 的解釋延續下去: The construction using supplementing fails to support the intended meaning of the sentence (用ㄠ的?反正它不對.)
可能是沒看到 but, 直接看到 supplementing 以為是現在分詞修飾前面句子.

把 (A) 的句子還原: but (the Iroquois were) supplementing... 1. 過去進行式時態不合理; 2. supplementing 沒有平衡的對象.

OG: 修飾?@#?&*?!? 不知道是從哪一根神經冒出來的.這讓我覺得自己也不太靈光了.

Ving 的function就是修飾前面S+V+O 整件事,
但是in this case,

以句意來看是有constrast 的效果 (前面是講種菜的人, 後面講打獵捕魚).

而且用but Ving 的效果很奇怪.
ie) I am a student, but working most of the time.
如果能平行使用的話, 可能會好一點.
ie) I am a student, but I work most of the time.

我知道接and錯,但說它接and even though會造成句子破碎,我不太懂...
我的想法是如果and even though會造成句子破碎,那為什麼正確選項D的although也是連接詞,就不會造成句子破碎呢??

在什麼情況可以分出這是要用對等(but / and ..) ？　還是要用從屬(although / while )？ 這題的考點好像不容易分得出來，這是要確確實實的從句意看嗎？

不過好像遇到這種的就是要用句意看吧，是吧?
