我覺得這個作者的conculsion是"some of the nine cancellations were probably due to something else."

然後作者的理由是"it is unlikely that Swift would have the mechanical problems with more than one or two scheduled flights on a single day"

如果conculsion要成立的話,(A)是很重要的assumption.
如果說all the nine canceled flights都是相同的一台(或兩台)飛機,那麼這九個倍取消的航班不就都是因為飛機的mechanical problems而被取消的嗎? 如果這樣的話,作者的conculsion就不會成立了!

因為有More than one or two airplanes were scheduled for the nine canceled flights, 扣掉其中幾個被取消的航班是因為那一兩架有mechanical problems的飛機,剩下的被取消的航班可能就是因為其他因素被取消...

這題答案是A, 就像lin1234說的, 沒有A的assumption會變成是非machanical的問題

因為如果沒有a的假設
那頂多只有一班飛機有mechanical problem
如此一來 作者的結論就不成立了
