Like any star of similar mass would do, once the Sun has exhausted the hydrogen in its core, it expands into red giant, eventually ejecting its outer envelope of gases to become white dwarf.
A.
B. Like any star of similar mass, once the hydrogen in the Sun’s core is exhausted, then it expands into red giant and eventually eject.
C. As in the case of any star of similar mass, once the hydrogen in the Sun’s core is exhausted, it will expand into red giant, and eventually ejecting.
D. As any star of similar mass would, once the hydrogen in the Sun’s core is exhausted it will expand into red giant and will eventually eject.
E. As would be the case of any star of similar mass, once the Sun exhausts the hydrogen in its core, it will expand into red giant and eventually eject.

The Answer is E ! Does anyone can help me explain the structure in (E)? Thanks

1) like any star ,any star與 the hydrogen 比較,比較不同類
2) the Sun's core,Sun非人, 所有格用法不佳
3) it 指代錯誤,it 指the hydrogen, the hydrogen expands in ti red giant.....不合理


C. As in the case of any star of similar mass, once the hydrogen in the Sun’s core is exhausted, it will expand into red giant, and eventually ejecting.
1) As + 介係詞片語(in the case of)用法不佳,表比較,應該用as + S + V,但這裡若表示比較的概念,與the hydrogen 比較不同類
2) the Sun's core,Sun非人, 所有格用法不佳
3) it 指代錯誤,it 指the hydrogen, the hydrogen expands in ti red giant.....不合理
4) it will expand into red giant
, and eventually ejecting 不佳
原句it will expand into red giant and[s] it will [/s]eventually eject....

(B) Like any star of similar mass, once the hydrogen in the Sun's core is exhausted, then it expands into a red giant and eventually ejects
star 和 hydrogen 比=>錯
(C) As in the case of any star of similar mass, once the hydrogen in the Sun's core is exhausted, it will expand into a red giant, and eventually ejecting
case 和 the hydrogen in the Sun's core is exhausted 比=>對
可是 it will expand into a red giant 錯, it 應該指 Sun, 這邊指 hydrogen

在CD上的PP破解版詳解寫到,
(D)as any star of similar mass would,這部分是子句沒問題,改成will即可
所以是as any star of similar mass will(expand...and eventually eject...)括號內的動詞省去的意思嗎?

在 GMAT 裡, would 只作 will 的過去式,或用於假設語氣.所以這個 would 的確是錯的. (i.e. 時態不對)
改成 will, 時態對了,但是比較不同類 star =/= Sun's core 造成句意不對稱.
it 應該指的是 Sun, 不是 Sun's core.
