還有為什麼用D選項的with不行呢?
是因為while後面少了it會造成句意不清嗎?

個人認為 while it continued 在主詞相同的情況下可以省略成 while continuing (Ving表主動）有什麼句意上的不同嗎？
while 與 as 有什麼語意上些微的差異？

"while it continued 在主詞相同的情況下可以省略成 while continuing" 差別在前者有時態(然而),後者較為動態(同時).

while 表示對比 or "雖然".
as 作連接詞翻譯成"當"(表示條件),"如同"(表示比較).

代名詞單複數是這裡主要考點沒問題, (A)(B)不需討論

我也同意while 後面it不可省, 但我的原因不同想跟你討論, 希望別覺得我多嘴呀(畢竟我已經不考了, 感覺可能比較鈍)
(C) =>當把it省略後, continued會改成分詞ving形式, 我記得OG哪裡曾經說過分詞形式有時候會造成"時態不清", 有可能ving是主動或是表示進行式

(D)(E)我覺得不是像你說的- "while和as需要子句",
with在這裡引導片語的插入句, 句子其實是完整的, 我的想法是因為with通常表主句伴隨狀態, 或是主句主語擁有的, 是一種"順帶說明", 表示沒那麼重要的資訊
with在這裡應該和where比, 根據句意, 會發現是在說明oversea的細節;
用with的話, 可能修飾 it was profitable only overseas 或是 The computer company registered.... 就沒那麼清楚了, 所以在這裡句意較模糊的情形之下不能選with的答案

另一個點是while V.S. as
=>我個人是覺得這裡while的意思比較像對等連接詞的"然而", 因為前面講的是公司賺錢的那塊, 後面講的是賠錢的那塊, 有對等的感覺; 所以我覺得while會比as 能表達出對等的句意

(C) 的確.同意對 Ving 的解讀.

從 with 的觀點下手也可.是的, with 問題正是修飾對象不清楚 ( i.e. 修飾 because...? 主要子句?); with 不太像修飾 overseas (i.e. overseas 應該不會 with...)
這樣一來, while... 就不確定是修飾主要子句,還是 because..., 變成 fragment 的情況.
另外一個理解是 ..., with {much... , while... } => with 不能承受一個句子,所以 with 不合理.
所以, with 的問題多多.

同意 while/as 的解讀. while 表示對比,通常翻譯成"然而", 這裡是對比沒錯.

關於S+V, while ving的用法困擾了我一個下午, 查遍CD, PP筆記, 還有傷咖的討論區, 最後在Manhattan GMAT裡面看到一個比較合理的答案.

-1) 'while' can be used as a subordinating conjunction, to indicate contrast.
if it is used in this sort of way, it MUST be used with another CLAUSE (i.e., not just a participle).
for instance:
while i had anticipated a disturbance, i had no idea it would be so big. --> correct
while anticipating a disturbance, i had no idea it would be so big. --> incorrect

2) 'while' can be used to express simultaneity (i.e., X happened during Y).
if there is no change of subject, then the preferred construction is a participle.
while sleeping on the train, i dreamt of a seven-foot-tall fairy goddess --> preferred
while i slept on the train, i dreamt of a seven-foot-tall fairy goddess --> not preferred, although probably still ok

SV, while ving的形式 只能套用在"同時發生的時候" X happened during Y.
