下面解釋的部份是我不解的地方,這題我看到A和C選的a smaller commitment 就不會想選,因為我覺得本題commitment用smaller修飾很奇怪,但看到解答說:less of 的less是名詞，和a smaller commitment都對?????????實在想不透,想請問一下為何對???

1. 根據Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English
less(2), determiner, pronoun
a smaller amount or not as much

EX: Flying is less of a risk than driving.

2. smaller 可以修飾可數名詞

所以less of a commitment 或 a smaller commitment都對

用 did 或 had 皆可,前者用代動詞,後者用原動詞過去式.似乎只有 have 這樣用;另外一種情形需要用原動詞的是當動詞不同時.

雖然前面大大有回覆, 但是還是不太了解have的詞性, 想再確認清楚
通常如果前面有的動詞, 後面要再重複, 我們會用助動詞
像這題young people have, 後面有their parents and grandparents had
前面大大說用 did 或 had 皆可
所以是不是their parents and grandparents had＝their parents and grandparents did呢？？
用their parents and grandparents had, 不會誤會是過去完成式嗎？？
