我想這樣是沒有問題的.
speeds 置於 are 後是倒裝 (optioanl, i.e. 不倒裝也可,沒有強制的規則)

覺得這一題的句子蠻不按牌理.原因在句子有主詞 (alliance) ,受詞 (computer companies, telephone companies, data, telephone lines, speeds) 如果沒有明寫出 speeds ,其實還不易知道在和哪個比較. are 不能省略的原因在於時態.
這一題顯然是刻意設計的考題.等到做題者一個一個名詞地推到合理的比較對象時,已經花掉不少時間了.

後來有點想通
但不知對不對
根據題目的意思
應該是 未來可能提供的速度 和現在能提供的速度比
從原題給的選項 than is 推判

這題是比較子句與主句時態不一致,即兩比較對象是相同的,但其發生的時間不一致或同一事物的相同動作發生的時間不同

ex1. I eat more food than he dose.
ex2.The economy of Florida is more diversified than it was ten
years ago.

1. 答案不可能是A or B，因為
SPEED 有兩種意思，意思不同介係詞的用法則不同
1. N.【U】迅速 (+with) 例: move with great speed (不加冠詞因不可數)
2. N.【Ｃ】速度 (+at) 例: move at a speed of 50 km/hr (可數）
　此題因為比較，又可數，必為＂速度＂的解釋，所以不可能用with做介係詞

2. 我覺得還原(E)的話應該是:
at speeds (that are) much higher than (speeds) are currently possible.
因為 more ... than... 句型 比較要對等，所以對等兩邊是 speeds，而前後相同可省略，所以後者的speeds被省略掉了

請各位指教 =)

1. previously thought是過去式...為何用it "is" (現在簡單式)?
2. 若是用 it , 那 faster than 前後如何 (所謂的)"硬梆梆"比較呢?
