[錄取分享]U of Washington/MSU

第2輪申請，今天收到信(1/26)。

G740, Toefl105, 11/15丟, 1/16 Taipei interview.
當兵前1年，當兵後2.5年工作經驗，GPA2.9；

值得一提的是，我最後一篇essay因為上傳時沒注意到，
不小心上傳到USC的essay，第一句就寫:
"Here I would like to stress on how my diversified
experience contributes to the USC Marshall MBA program......"
不過這篇是additional essay, 所以內容都是在講我自己，
所以學校的名字對內容影響不大。。。。不過還是讓我挫到
今天收到錄取信的前一刻

這告訴我們就算submit之後發現內容有缺失......just don't give up!!!!

之前還上了MSU, 他們的動作效率很快，因為它是我第一批最後丟的學校，
可是也是第一個interview和錄取的學校。

想著西雅圖，心裡很高興，因為我將會帶著我家的二隻長毛臘腸和(準)老婆
一起去美國，能在一個有氣質的地方念書真的很開心。

我還在等其它的學校，若有人還想知道什麼，我會儘量回答。
總之謝謝所有在板上潑文分享的人，這個板真的提供了很多資訊，
從考試到申請都得到很多幫助，非常謝謝大家。

我在外商銀行一年多，精算顧問一年整，做customer behavioral analysis。
大家都說seatle的感覺還蠻東岸的，面試我的人說話也蠻像紐約人，
講的蠻快的，但態度蠻nice，面試就是多準備+練習，沒有別的絕竅，
主要是我覺得我在申請時想了很久why MBA，
也不斷的用不同的角度確認自己的想法，確認自己真的在追求自己想要的，
不是為了別人的眼光，看法，錢，認同或是父母的意見而去念MBA，
而是有一個更深層的DRIVE而做了MBA這個對自己的投資，
不斷的反思、質問、反思、質問，你想法中的雜質就會愈來愈少，
然後你說出的話，就會愈有深度、愈清徹。

拍謝話很多，這是我個人的想法，我在申請的過程，學了很多。

Seattle is a midsize city and yet, the cost of living is comparable to New York City. Thanks for those medical doctors living in Seattle.

By the way, I could not help but notice that you also applied to Southern Cal. I have nothing against public universities. However, public universities always come after private universities in most, if not all, American people’s hearts. Although U of Washington and U of Michigan might be treated differently by many Taiwanese people, those two public universities are exactly the than in the eyes of most American people.

It would be the best of your interest to take advantage of private universities should you decide to stay in the US after your graduation.

The cost of living is high in Seattle because the average income in Washington State is high. Some major companies' headquarters are around Seattle, such as Microsoft, Amazon, Expedia, etc. As I know, the placement for MBA students is quite good.

It is true that those big companies are based in Seattle metropolitan area. However, I wonder how many jobs do Microsoft or other high tech companies still keep in Seattle or even in the US. Last time I checked, Microsoft just announced to open a new center in Vancouver, Canada due to the H1b crisis.

As far as the placement goes, you probably already know how applicable that percentage means to you. Your American classmates are all getting jobs with 100K+ salaries three months before graduations. Does this mean you will too? You probably will receive better offers than your American classmates do, or will you? You will find out in two years.

Again, congratulations on your success, and I hope everyone’s discussions here will assist you to maximize your future opportunities.
