今年很幸運得到Cornell的offer,
從面試,繳交訂金,到申請住宿的過程都感受到Cornell很friendly,很體貼,人跟人之間的關係似乎很緊密.
在這裡又看到學長姐的熱心文章,覺得很窩心,希望能快點認識大家

分享一下我的Background, 希望對未來申請的人有所幫助

我會建議租 academic year , 因為你第一年一定會去實習(沒有找到也得找到:P)
暑假根本用不到房子, 把你的東西裝箱 看看寄放在誰那邊就好了
不需要多花那些額外的錢

mm... 學校真是越來越小氣...不過 自己接網路+電視的話(可以看洋基的YES),
一個月大概80 usd , 如果是宿舍四個人分 80/4 = $20 也還不貴

Hasbrouck 基本上是給 couple / family 住的....所以 除非有空位
不然很難申請 .... 去年畢業前還有聽聞 要將部份宿舍 share 給大學部
(不過遭到研究生嚴重反彈....現在如何 不知道 :P )

Thanks for your replies ccuturandot and Goodspeed! 我check 了Maplewood 跟Hasbrouck. 現在都沒有包網路了 T.T. Hasbrouck 好像不能租一個人的apartment 只有studio, 可是studio 貴很多. 如果是要租2 bedroom的是要事先找到roommate然後兩個一起租嗎? Maplewood是不是比Hasbrouck 方便? 我想我第一年還是住學校好了因為對Ithaca 完全不熟, 也不會有車. 還有請問一下會建議租一整年嗎? 還是just for the academic year till May?

我看網站的說明,Hasbrouck跟Maplewood還是有包網路,但是不包長途電話跟有線電視. FYI

Housing rates include all utility costs (gas, electricity, water, basic telephone (ResPhone) and Internet (ResNet). In addition to rent, residents pay for cable television if they want that service. Long-distance or international phone service is limited to carriers compatible with Cornell's phone system. On-site parking is available for an additional fee.

我是看"2008-2009 graduate housing rates"的file. It says for Maplewood Park: "Residents pay additional fees for campus internet connection, phone services (long distance and local), cable TV service, and on site parking. " There seems to be some discrepancy amongst different documents found on the Johnson website. Regardless, 希望它是有包的摟~^^

By the way, have you decided to go to Cornell?

各位學弟妹,
我幫你們問過住在hasbrouck的同學,宿舍網路原則上是不用錢的,assumption是單月流量不能超過5GB,主要是保障大多數的用戶(怕有人用BT吧),
電話就像你們看到的是只有long-distance要錢,其實來這邊大家都用cell-phone,很少人在用室內電話
還有任何問題歡迎你們提出來,我們一二年級的Cornell同學都很願意幫忙回答

我知道你在猶豫Yale or Cornell, 我Yale面試後被拒了, 所以沒有這種煩惱:P. 但我想Cornell贏在台灣人多一些可以互相照應(Yale聽說去年只有一個, 不確定真實性), Yale則是贏在綜合知名度較高. 但我相信都是很好的學校囉

我不知道今年是如何 但是我那一年, 2005 我到學校的時候(大約8/10) Maplewood 還有房間 雖然當時學校宣稱沒房間了
但是去找那個管宿舍的女士...應該都會得到正面回應

是的 校風非常 collaborative ....不管甚麼科系, 大學部 or 研究所
你都可以感受到這種精神......而且 ,我們都關在 Ithaca ...沒有都市般的娛樂
只有郊遊,BBQ,划船,酒莊 大家一起出去 同學的感情都會比較融洽...

Both of their business schools are ranked at around No.15. No big difference in terms of brand name. No matter what you want to do after graduation, you definitely have to fight harder than those get into top 10 or M7.

In terms of campus, both of them are great places. But, honestly, Yale School of Management is really lousy in terms of facilities. The building is also small. I feel like even the facilities of NTU's Management School is better than those of Yale's.

Thanks Strategy. I will keep this info in mind! Just curious, so if the choice is between Berkeley (ranked around #8) and Cornell/Yale, Berkeley would be the better choice regardless of the fact that it's not Ivy League?

I believe that the choice between B-schools depends on your career focus and that there is little difference among M8~16. If you would like to enter finance industry post MBA, Cornell and Yale would be better for you; for enterprenuer or tech management, Berkeley would be better.

Hello all, Johnson admit here. I am wondering how you guys are completing the "Declaration of Finances" form to get the I-20 document?

They require proof of 133K USD (both years) , but I only have loans for about 66K (1st year) only. I also only have limited personal funds since Taiwan's salary is so low, plus my family doesn't have much money.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
