我研究一陣子，我覺得是句子層次的問題
我們來看A為什麼對好了

(A) More than 300 rivers drain into Siberia's Lake Baikal(講述一個事實), which holds 20 percent of the world's fresh water(補充說有多多的水呀!...佔全世界淡水20%), more than all the North American Great Lakes combined.(怕讀者還不懂，20%淡水有多多，舉個美國人熟悉的例子說明，比五大湖的水還多呀!)

這樣講起來就很有層次了

我覺得"more than all the North American Great Lakes combined."是個補述的句子，A~D都是跟20%淡水的句子寫在一起，只有E選把這句給拆散，我覺得這樣會改變句子的重點。

還原~*o*~
...20 percent of the world's fresh water, (which is) more than all (fresh water of) the North American Great Lakes combined.
似乎醬比較清晰

這一句的主句是從一開頭的More than..到 into Siberia's Lake Baikal就結束了
後面再跟兩段修飾語

我也比較同意是這樣的還原...
如果是這樣的話! 那麼BD的關代就不會修飾前面整個句子
PS: 破解版把(A) ..., more than認為是同位語 ?!

因為同位語可由非限制形容詞子句修改。

因為感覺"the North American Great Lakes combined"像是"all fresh water"的補語.

more than... 是連接詞子句 (than =連接詞)

也可以這樣看(比較容易懂,但不是100%正確):
Lake Baikal holds 20 percent of the world's fresh water, more than all the North American Great Lakes combined.
= Lake Baikal holds 20 percent of the world's fresh water, (which is) more than all the North American Great Lakes combined.
which = water
這樣 more than... 是形容詞片語;說不是100%正確,因為 GMAT 是不同意省略 which is 來解釋的.

i.e. 原句沒有用 (which is) 是對的,表示修飾前句,主詞是 Lake Baikal. 以省略 (which is) 來解釋,在 GMAT 裡, which 只能修釋 water, 句意不對.

combined是修飾all the North American Great Lakes, 其V省了.
