大家好,想請問一個題目的理解:
UCLA #5 OPTIONAL: Are there any extenuating circumstances in your profile about which the Admissions Committee should be aware? (250 words)

請問"extenuating circumstances"的意思照中文字面翻是"情有可原的狀況",所以此題一定要回答"自己申請上可能的weakness去解釋"(如GPA低)嗎?
還是可以補充說明之前essay未寫到的優勢與經驗來引起學校的興趣?

因為大部份學校最後optional題大部份是說:anything additional that you think we should know as we evaluate your application?
所以不清楚"extenuating circumstances"真正用意為何?

"extenuating circumstances" 就正如david所說 - the school does not tend to ask you to openly talk about urself.

"addition information" - you can freely talk about any part of urself which you didnt have chance to demonstrate in required essays. i.e. your community service or a special trip ...etc. of course, you have to strategically choose the example talked here which can absolutely make adcom interesting/exciting.
