that 指 work沒錯,原句是拿兩種研究方式來做比較。之前的研究是以奴隸擁有者的紀錄為基礎，Blassingame則是以奴隸自己留下來的紀錄為基礎。
因此要比較的話, 要有that 是正確的
Blassingame's innovative study(of works on slavery ) , unlike that (study) of earlier works on slavery, relies.........這樣有比較清楚嗎??
把形同同位語的插入句搬到前面就變成題目那樣了


如果答案D那就表示是Blassingame自己的作品跟自己的作品比,那整句就語意怪異了

其實這題選A選D的都是不相上下，你看看

你的看法是有人說，但也有人不認同
簡單來說就是A句型合宜，但句意欠佳，D是句意相對合理，但平衡結構較不如

這題我當初沒多想就匆匆選了D, 後來做完整套題目回過頭來還是覺得選D, 因為覺得that的出現沒有必要... 不過再後來覺得到底還是A比較清楚完整. study 跟 works畢竟還是不同意思, 前者較偏重研究過程, 後者較偏重指成品 (已經完工了的study...)
