我是還沒有做到這題啦....今天無意間發現CD有人在討論這題....
結果看的我一頭霧水......
居然覺得大家說的都粉有道理 :-S
不過我是傾向選D 但我不太知道這裡平衡是在平衡誰????

我想請問大家....這題選A還是D
這裡平衡 banked (或was banked) 到底是跟誰平衡!!!????

這題我選A..
這裡的banked with 應該是跟前面最接近它的overlaid with構成平衡對稱 同樣修飾poles
另外, 我覺的A with dirt to a height of 優於D as high as, A is more clear than D.

但是後來覺得的確d比較好...
這裡的banked應該與conical平衡比較好...不過只能從句意來看了..

因為應該是房子被墊高...而不是柱子被墊高...

記得之前考托福的時候有聽過一篇講美國因為氣候變化而有不同的房子....
這題應該就是與其相關的題目...
那篇裡面講到有些原住民的房子因為特殊氣候而必須把房子墊高...
一些蟲啊蛇啊什麼的才不會爬進屋子裡...

我是後來想到這點就覺得a可以接受了...
不過真的深刻體會到這種題目就是在考非本地學生的....
句意看不懂...根本選不到...

但話說回來...a中的to a height of 跟c中的 as high as 有什麼不同我就不懂了...

事實上, 我同意 Grace 的說法...但覺得沒把握...

因為我覺得從句義上說不過去....因為如果與 overlaid 平衡的話, 句義上是不通的...所以我在仔細看一下, 覺得 應該選 D 跟 was conical 平橫這樣句意才合理 ㄚ唷...考試那那麼多時間讓我再看一下呀

Hmm.... 看完你們的解釋後 我去查了一下字典 bank當動詞的意思 原來bank 當動詞有墊高的意思...因此我同意 banked 是修飾主詞 house, rather than pole.

Colin's Cobuild Dictionary: If a place is banked with something, it is piled high with that thing. :P
