另外我是覺得early是副詞阿!
如果照正確答案來講的話，was a well-established method of mineral extraction as early as .......降early到底要修飾誰咧?well-established是形容詞修飾method阿~~
何況E選項的had been也很合句意阿~意思剛好可以表示，在did not realize that bacteria......之前，Leaching是a method of mineral extraction
我覺得E表示Leaching had been a method of mineral extraction and had well established as early as the eighteenth century, but until about 25 years ago miners did not realize that bacteria take an active part in the process
所以我不知道E到底有什麼問題呢?
C又對在哪?early修是誰?

嗯嗯~~仔細想想後發覺C中的early應該是修飾was拉~~降我就懂了
C確實是比較好
不過E還是看不出比較明顯的錯誤?
除了比較不簡潔~有錯誤嗎?時態降可不可以?

我覺得c選項改成過去完成式也可以,理由跟樓上的一樣, 這樣能清楚表示事情發生的順序
E選項真的不簡潔

這題講的是十八世紀的一種方法....用過去式應該沒問題阿
至於要不要用過去完成....我是覺得沒必要
句意並沒有要表達某事發生在某事之前

我當初在(C)和(E)選
雖然知道(C)較簡潔
可是還是選了(E)

主要是因為well established修飾的名詞決定的
原題比較像是修飾Leaching
可是(C)變成修飾method
有點改變題意的感覺

我作題常常在最後選擇的時候，考慮修飾移位改變句意此點而選錯
