第二，看到by是否應想到被動？但是，但B的選項中，並沒有被動。
第三，原句說：這個進程(progress)消滅大多數西半球的原住民族，但是在B，是說：西半球的原住民族毀了…(毀了什麼？看不出來)

the meaning of the sentence should be that some kind of progress does s'th rather than native people do s'th "by some kind of progress ".

B is awkward.

A is more clear than the other choices. It also properly uses "devastation and enslavement" rather than "devastating and enslaving" to represent a concept rather than an action.

In B, there is a grammartical mistake in the relative sentence. The object of decimate should be "native peoples of the Western Hemisphere". The verb here should adapt passive tense, if you want to choose B.

A 裡面的 that 要指誰呢? progress?
用現在完成式? 動作持續到現在?
感覺怪怪的
如果把答案 C 裡 which 子句中的 in the name of progress 拿掉
(如果是把前面的拿掉就跟 D 一樣了)
變成是用 動名詞 的形式
這樣子符合 personify 的用法嗎? 可以用 動作 來表示一種 象徵?

我也是做真題遇到的,但真題的答案有時也不準

不過看完各位的description, I can agree with answer A.

一開始我認為process不會殺native people,應該是native people 在這process被殺,so I chose B for my answer.

However, the meaning of this question should "哥倫布把屠殺及奴化西半球的原住民擬人化為一個過程"

For B's meaning "哥倫布把西半球原住民被殺戮的屠殺,奴化過程給擬人化"就好像有點怪怪了
