Q1: B選項有連接詞and，為什麼OG說它是run-on sentence呢？

Q2: E選項OG的解釋是：the result was should instead be the result was that.
that一定不能省略麼？我記得名詞子句如果當受詞，因為從屬關係明確所以省略that也不造成混淆。莫非這是GMAT的特殊堅持？

省略了怕怕，不省略也怕怕 (wordy?)

這樣看起來 the result 等同於later generations (which) lost all.......
所以省略that 會使得 the result的內容不清

the largest of ancient world 緊跟著 Alexandria 感覺是修飾 Alexandria 而不是library 的, (D)的意思還是怪怪的
電影亞歷山大有說所有"亞歷山大大君"建的城好像都叫Alexandria,

不過我上Google查 :
Alexandria, founded in 332 B.C. by Alexander the Great, was (304–30 B.C.) the capital of the Ptolemies.
暫時沒查到其他的. 到底有幾個城市呢?

每次做到這題都錯,唉...

這題我也有同樣的疑問,the largest of ancient world 緊跟著 Alexandria 感覺是修飾 Alexandria 而不是library.
有沒有高手能解答一下阿??

個人認為 the 最高級 of N, 其中N 是複數, 要不然那來的比較咧

所以 (C) 應該有省略, 還原=> the largest (library) of (the libraries of) the ancient world

但為何 largest 指 library 而不指 Alexandria ?
從文意推得, Alex. 是地方名, 用 largest 形容地方名, 好怪.
比較考慮的寫法是: the largest city
所以我覺得(C) ...the largest of the ancient world, 同位 library

Choice B is incorrect. Although an "-ing" verb such as destroying can sometimes act as a noun, in this case the usage is strained.
有些不太明瞭,是說這題destroying作名詞不好嗎? 一直想不通要怎麼解釋才好

非常同意你的講法! 我這一題第二次做也錯! 因為搞不懂largest到底要修飾
圖書館還是亞歷山大?

不過想一想 亞歷山大在古代世界最大...領土大?面積大?...甚麼大??
所以 用同位語the largest 省略one(代替library) in world..修飾圖書館
句意也是最合的。
