run-on sentence 的正確定義?

請教各位前輩,run-on sentence 的正確定義為何?
小弟在google上有查到兩個解釋:
1. run-on sentence: an ungrammatical sentence in which two or more independent clauses are conjoined without a conjunction.

2. A RUN-ON SENTENCE (sometimes called a "fused sentence") has at least two parts, either one of which can stand by itself (in other words, two independent clauses), but the two parts have been smooshed together instead of being properly connected.

另外在Dr.eye上也有解釋:
run-on sentence: 連寫句(指兩個主句之間不用連接詞或錯用標點的句子)

這三者的解釋小弟可以接受,但莫北北在上課時卻曾經講過一個run-on sentence:
"All the night he stayed in the wood and he feared to come home."

將google和Dr.eye上的解釋套到這莫北北的例子上就讓小弟不解了, 因為"he stayed in the wood" 和 "he feared to come home"這兩個是子句, 且中間也有用連接詞"and",為什麼也算是run-on sentence?

此外,小弟在google上也查到另一個解釋:
It is important to realize that the length of a sentence really has nothing to do with whether a sentence is a run-on or not; being a run-on is a structural flaw that can plague even a very short sentence:
''The sun is high, put on some sunblock."
這一句也是run-on sentence.

在看完這些解釋後小弟對run-on sentence的想法為:
1. 兩個子句間的連結不能用comma,也不能用對等連接詞(and, but, or, ...etc.)只能用semicolon.
2. 如果一定要將兩個子句連結起來,就要用compound predicate.

不知小弟的想法是否有誤,還煩請各位先進不吝指導.謝謝!

小聲的建議....
其實不用這麼在意這個名詞，這對解題似乎沒有用處哩^^

真的要說的話，
我認為一個句子裡如果沒有動詞，
或是，
沒有使用連接詞（and, although...）或是正確的標點符號連結一個以上的動詞，
都是流水句。

剛好我對run-on有些整理, 提供給你參考~

莫北北講的例題Run-om是因為這是兩個independent clauses: 完整的主詞+動詞+ (受詞)
1) All the night he stayed in the wood 2) he feared to come home
只有連接詞and，但and前面少了逗點
正確的寫法是
All the night he stayed in the wood, and he feared to come home
但一般來說前後主詞相同, 寫一次就清楚簡潔, 所以會寫成
All the night he stayed in the wood and feared to come home
這個時候就不需要有逗點了~~因為第二句沒有出現主詞

Longman上的定義:
run-on sentence
especially American English a sentence that has two main clauses without connecting words or correct punctuation
沒有連接詞或兩個完整子句(S+V+O)沒有正確標點符號(分號,句號)都稱為Run-on!
OG上解釋也是主要是這兩種, 無論主詞同或不同, 如果第二個句子出現主詞, 一定要加連接詞, 且連接詞前要打逗點, 你可以從OG135等題得到驗證
