如下
請各位大大幫忙囉

Stations X and Y are connected by two separate, straight, parallel rail lines that are 250 miles long. Train P and train Q simultaneously left Station X and Station Y, respectively, and each train traveled to the other’s point of departure. The two trains passed each other after traveling for 2 hours. When the two trains passed, which train was nearer to its destination?
(1)At the time when the two trains passed, train P had averaged a speed of 70 miles per hour.
(2)Train Q averaged a speed of 55 miles per hour for the entire trip.






這題答案是(C)
我想問的是為何不是(D)?
問哪一輛比較接近目的地的話
不是算誰走的比較遠就比較接近的意思嗎??
那麼~~兩個條件單獨的狀況下都可以判斷出啊???

不成立的原因應該是Q的全程平均速
無從判斷火車是一直保持一樣的速度
還是有快有慢 然後最後平均速55mile
當然也無法得知它們相遇時Q的速度

由1可得
P在會車時平均速 70
又是經過2小時
所以 P走了140mile
全程250-140 所以P離終點還有90 Q還有140

我覺得問題是出在1跟2的敘述方式上
其實我原本要上來問這題的
沒想到有人問了沒人回
就自己想了很久
結果就突然會了
希望考試時也有這種意外發生

不成立的原因應該是Q的全程平均速
無從判斷火車是一直保持一樣的速度
還是有快有慢 然後最後平均速55mile
當然也無法得知它們相遇時Q的速度

又是經過2小時
所以 P走了140mile
全程250-140 所以P離終點還有90 Q還有140

如果只知道A 不就無法判斷ㄌ嗎???

我是覺得A只知道train P的在兩小時候離終點的距離
可是不知道trainQ在兩小時後離終點的距離
所以無法比較哪輛車在兩小時後離終點比較近
因為題目問的是which train was "nearer" to its destination?
nearer是比較級 如果沒有兩個東西比的話 怎麼知道誰比較近咧

可以看作同一線上...
在兩車同時遇到的那個點,當P車開140時,Q車自然表示開90...
所以知道P車的位置也就可以推知Q車的位置

倒底是指
全程保持55的速度 (答案就變成D)
還是
全程的平均速度是55 (答案就變成A)

跟
have an average speed of 55 m/h for this trip
是一樣還是不一樣的意思啊

我跟幾位有不同的看法 我覺得答案是E
從(1)中 我們只知道火車P在交會的時候的速度是70公里（at the time when the two trains passes)，但是無法得知P之前與之後的速度是否為70公里
(2)則告訴我們Q每小時平均速度55km，因此可以得知其已走了110公里

綜合以上 還是無法知道誰離終點比較近喔

我跟幾位有不同的看法 我覺得答案是E
從(1)中 我們只知道火車P在交會的時候的速度是70公里（at the time when the two trains passes)，但是無法得知P之前與之後的速度是否為70公里
(2)則告訴我們Q每小時平均速度55km，因此可以得知其已走了110公里

綜合以上 還是無法知道誰離終點比較近喔

nope, (2)告訴我們的是該列車全程平均速度 而非走了兩小時那時段內的平均速度
所以單獨考量(2)這條件 基本上沒用 我是列車長可以耍白濫 約前兩個小時一公里 然後約後兩小時狂飆時速一百多XD

答案A 無庸置疑 因為是前兩小時的速度可求出離站距離 以及求出與另外一車交會點 此兩點完全充分 結案
