因題目前半段用的時態為現在式, 為符合兩邊時態平行, 所以我選D.
請問各位是否可以幫忙解惑為何D 選項是錯誤的呢?

動詞用現在式" are " to the narcissistic 1980's , 這句話也是表示過去是時態嗎? 若是的話~ , 那為何下一句動詞卻是用過去式" were " ?
若Personal trainers and fitness coaches are to the narcissistic 1980's 的 are to the narcissistic 1980's 不是指過去時態, 那這一句在講什麼哩?

此題是考 A is to B what C is to D.
此題後面要用過去式，是因為他用了比較級earlier time
比narcissistic 1980's更早的時間
所以前面現在式，後面就過去式囉！...

據說那份 考古題 是那個年代的題目唷 :)
所以你會看到現在式 而不是過去式
