[分享]NYU Stern Status.

帖子MBABoy » 2006-02-22 17:54

Below is from BusinessWeek forum. For those who have applied for Stern, either in R1 or R2. From this post, I guess that Stern works on R1 and R2 applicants almost simultaneously in reviewing the R1 packages again, first reading for R2, and granting interview invitation for R2.

So, just be patinet if you are still waiting for interview invitation. I guess R2 applicants have to wait longer to receive invitations than R1 applicants did.

"Wow! Finally some good news from Stern. Just got admitted via email half an hour ago.

Application complete: 11/16 (R1 applicant)

Invite to Interview: 1/11

Interview: 2/7

Accepted: 2/21 (Stern R2 deadline is 1/15)

For those who are waiting, there's still hope!"

My friend is pretty low-profile compared with me and a little bit mad at my behavior of discussing this in the public forum, ha ha :PP , so I just share some rough backgrouds. I think that there is no correlation between the date you submit your application and the date you get the interview, nor is there any correlation between your GMAT, GPA or W/E and the date you get invited. Just be patient and be confident of yourself if you believe that you already did your best to promote and package yourself. :smile

GMAT: 700+
Education: NTU Fin. GPA: 3.8+
W/E: PR firms (2 years), MA in foreign bank (1 year)

I have read my friend's essays before. I have to say, compared with those written by Americans or essays I read from BusinessWeek.com or some books, those essays are not dramatic with big vision, nor do they have some incredible stories. Yet I found that those essays are sincere, well-researched of the school, and specific. My friend is just a normal person.

About goal essays. Some people tend to write very general stuffs especially when talking about "Why xxx school". When you have time, you could make up lots of career path and goals to fit into the school. But what if you only have limited time? And that is what I said previously, do not apply so many schools with different uniquenesses. My friend is pretty good at finding suitable courses and clubs of schools to fit into the career path, career goals and personal interests.

I knew that almost every people applied Stern this year have 700+ GMAT. Yet I knew some person with GMAT higher than my friend did not get interview and are WL or dinged in R1. Some of their essays are truly too general. I could easily substitute other schools' names without any logical error or any inappropriate aspects. They just wanted to use their high GMAT scores to beat others.

I still talked too much. Sorry for my long and wordy article.
Good luck everyone.
