Shun Chih,
I'm sorry that we were not able to bring you good news. I know that your
interest in the Kelley MBA Program is very strong. While we were
impressed with your work experience and your career goals, your overall profile
was not as competitive as those who have been offered admission.
The admissions process is very competitive. We expect to receive over
1,000 applications for just 190 places in the class. Despite your strengths,
your low GMAT score made it difficult to compete in this year's applicant
pool. The average GMAT score for international applicants offered
admission this year is over 680. Of particular concern to the admissions
committee was your verbal score which was at only the 13th percentile. We like to
see verbal scores at least at the 50th percentile. Your TOEFL score,
while it just met the 250 minimum requirement, was also lower than most
successful international candidates. The average TOEFL score is approximately
270.
I hope this information helps you to better understand the admissions
committee's decision. I thank you again for your interest in the Kelley MBA
Program and wish you good luck in your future endeavors.
James Holmen
Director of Admissions
