It is difficult to answer your questions here and now.

First..., most or many of Coffee Shop members are only looking for top 20 schools. I am so shy to say the strengths of WFU.

Secondly..., in the following 7 days, I will have two final exams. I may not have time to give you detail information in a short time.

So, let me just give you some objective information.

1) The career center said every student who wanted to find a summer internship last year can find one. (100%, including international students) (Information from career center.)

2) There are several basketball superstars graduated from this school. It is important for American University.

3) The weather is comfortable.

4) The school holds lots of activities to decrease the gap between international students and native students. Last weekend we had a "diversity weekend"... Another is... I and my Japanese roommate had a Thanksgiving dinner with an American classmate's family, and we slept in their house for one night.

5) With my criteria, the professors are good. I think other schools also have good professors.

Hope it would be a little help to you.

David touched almost all the dimensions about this school. As one the other Taiwanese student in Babcock, I have some more comments to make.

First, we have probably one of the smallest classes among the top 50 US business schools. In 2005, only 88 students were admitted to this program. In such a small class, you’ll have a lot of chances to interact with the professors, and to build a close relationship with other classmates.

Second, the school is not so diversified compared with other business programs. In the class of 2006, international students only accounted for 18% of the total students enrolled. The number increased last year, but still, it’s only 25%. That means you’ll be forced to improve your English for a better communication with domestic students. In the first year, each study group consists of 4to 5 students. Only one of them is from somewhere outside the United States.

Third, the class is intensive and challenging. Time is always the “scarce resource” here. Our typical daily life is: Classes start at 8 AM and end at 1 PM. After a short lunch break, most of time we will have a team meeting for several hours. There’s some free time at night, but it’s better for us to prepare for next day’s class because participation in class counts a lot in the grade. Life in second year would be easier since there will be fewer classes and less team projects than we have in first year.

I hope I didn’t scare you away so far. Let’s talk about something outside the classrooms.

If you are a big NCAA hoop fan, you are in the right place. Although Wake sucks this year, basketball is still a huge thing here. Not to mention that MBA students have free tickets for every game played at home. (Exceptions: probably you’ll need to sign up for a lottery for Duke and UNC games. Those tickets are hot!!) By the way, Tim Duncan is not the only NBA stars from Wake Forest. Josh Howard of the Mavericks, Chris Paul (A.K.A.
“Rookie of the Year”) of the Hornets, Rodney Rogers and the former Hornet, the smallest player in the NBA history, Muggsy Bogues are all from Wake Forest.

Wake Forest is located in the city of Winston-Salem. For outdoor activity lovers, you can go hiking in the nearby national parks or go skiing in Ashville or West Virginia in the winter. For people who like to shop (like me), it’s only 1.5 hours of drive to Charlotte. They also have some fancy restaurants and clubs there. You can still enjoy the life here while not studying.

Anyway, if you are applying or thinking about to apply for Wake Forest MBA, I hope the information above helps. If you have any question about the admission process, life in W-S, or anything about Wake Forest, please feel free to contact us.

Wish you the best of luck for the applications.

DEAR ALL:
