B, D: 慣用 subject of 錯,應改為subject to
C: as 錯,不能接片語應改為 S + V 結構且 extremities 有錯
E: those 指代有問題

我老搞不清楚什麼時候用 like (我只知道後面必須是Noun)
什麼時候用 as (有時候可以是名詞 / 有時候又必須是S+V)
到底有沒有什麼好方法可以清楚分辨出來啊...

不太了解為什麼說(E)those指代有問題耶
我覺得可以指代到extremities

但我後來看一看,but開啟了一個獨立子句
反倒是那個there變成不知道指哪個地方


另外有兩個地方有點疑問,請教大家
1. 不知道extremities和 extremes 這個部分是不是也不一樣?
2. 正確答案(A)because後面插入一個although副詞子句,變成插入句。所以
although可以當作插入句用,而不需要主句?一直以來,我的觀念是 although之後是一定要有一個完整子句當作主句,不然句子會不完整。

(D) (E) 結構不同,改變句意
extremity 抽象名詞(極端); extreme 抽象或具體名詞(極端的值).
(A) 把 although... 放在 because 後面加逗點,表示 although... 是 because 子句的一部份,而且只能修飾 libraries...

from Merriam-Webster,
extreme [noun]
1 a: something situated at or marking one end or the other of a range <extremes of heat and cold> b: the first term or the last term of a mathematical proportion c: the major term or minor term of a syllogism
2 a: a very pronounced or excessive degree b: highest degree : maximum
3: an extreme measure or expedient <going to extremes>

extremity [noun]
1 a: the farthest or most remote part, section, or point <the island's westernmost extremity> b: a limb of the body; especially : a human hand or foot
2 a: extreme danger or critical need b: a moment marked by imminent destruction or death
3 a: an intense degree <the extremity of his participation — Saturday Review> b: the utmost degree (as of emotion or pain)
4: a drastic or desperate act or measure <driven to extremities>
