24.

Employment costs rose 2.8 percent in the 12 months that ended in September, slightly less than they did in the year that ended in the previous quarter.

(A) less than they did
(B) less than it did
(C) less than they were
(D) lower than
(E) lower than they were

Ans: A

employment --> it
cost --> did
得到 (B)

請問 (A) 裡的 they 指誰?

they = costs

會變成the costs rose 2.8 percent和the year that ended in the previous比較

1. Employment costs rose 2.8 percent in the 12 months that ended in September, slightly less than they did in the year that ended in the previous quarter.
they did 不能省, 因為前面有多組 v--adv: (rose--in the 12 months), (ended--in September)

1. less than (片語)preposition amount
You use less than before a number or amount to say that the actual number or amount is smaller than this.

ex:Motonways actually cover less than 0.1 percent of the countryside.

2. less (determiner +n-count)
a determiner is a word that is used at the beginning of a noun group.
ex:less fat, less attention etc

lower is used to express position
eg: the lower deck of the bus, the lower part of a tower block

Employment costs rose 2.8 percent in the 12 months that ended in September, slightly less than they did in the year that ended in the previous quarter.
說明ended in September在前, ended in the previous quarter在後.

Re: Prep-T1-Q24

(A) less than they did

(主要是因為參考了prep T2 Q95 的解釋, it/ they 要指完全同一個, that/ those只性質相同)

句中employee costs用they代...
