這題雖然選對了，可是感覺有點毛毛的，不太說得出來(B)(C)(D)(E)哪裏不好，只是覺得(A)比較通順。有人可以更具體地解釋一下這題在考什麼嗎？

我的解法:
考點say that...and that...的平衡...它加了兩個插入句
1 , mostly in the developing world,
2 , in order to maintain competitiveness,
把句子弄的很亂...其實這兩個補充說明不要看就很清楚
say that free trade encourages industry to... and that rich nations have joined this downward slide...
(say that S V O ...and that S V O ... )

兩個that都是當say的受詞 : 許多環保學者+經濟學者說了兩件事

(B) 表目的不用for
(C) because of 加名詞不能加動名詞
(D) 不平衡
(E) 誰主動 wanting ? environmentalists? nations ? 莫名其妙的現在進行 is making ...

(B): for maintaining competitiveness不如in order to maintain 來的好, 具體說明為了達成甚麼目的
(C): because of wanting 錯, because of 後面不能接動作改V-ing
(D): joining this...沒有跟encourages平衡
(E): wanting也沒有平衡

你可以把句子想成: Many environmentalists, and some economists, say that free trade encourages.......and that (in order to maintain competitiveness), S+V
