請問D為何不行？我的想法是把with所引導的句子當成名詞子句來修飾後面整個句子.....謝謝

分號後面要接完整句..
(D)接一個with 分號之後的句子主詞會跑到 the rest of the 9 inches...
with transpiration 變修飾後面句子主詞the rest of the 9 inches...

是為什麼啊?
怎麼以前沒看過
我知道介係詞後不能加不定式
但是with後面加了好多東西才接to do 這樣也不行嗎?

(D) with 修飾 the rest of... 改變句意;原句的意思不是這樣.
句意也不合理: 9 inch 不會有 transpiration.

不過我的問題是
介係詞with後面不能跟不定式to do

我知道with是修飾the rest
只是想問一下這個文法點而已
另外,with在這裡是做獨立主格吧?

修辭久不練,忘得快,聽說現在美國教授蠻挑剔文法的,所以偶而上來複習一下囉!
with 是介系詞,試圖表達一個完整的句子(帶主詞,動詞)負荷不起,所以只要見到介係詞後面又是主詞,又是動詞的儘量不要選. GMAT 這樣把介詞當連接詞用的很少對.
with 後面接 to +V, 幾乎沒有見過(有看過 Ving 的,但是這在 GMAT 裡也是錯的), 可能是 with 既然是介系詞,後面頂多加名詞,不能帶有動作的,必需完整句子才行.
with 獨立主格,有此一說,但用法不對.

to V有不確定之意味, 故不可為條件or狀況.
