我的理由是 80年代 魚的消費量上升4.5% 家畜消費量上升9% 人口上升6%
那啟不是可推得-->對這段期間的移民而言,魚較家畜不可能成為主食

不過 剛剛自己寫下推理過程的同時 我想到一個可能原因
是因為...in part due to immigration...的關係嗎
也就是說 有可能不是顯示這些移民的飲食喜好 而是顯示其他人口的飲食喜好

題目的最後一句話"must also be true"
光這點，(B)的"less likely to"就可以把(B)排除了

進一步說，要(B)正確的話，還要假設原來的居民飲食習慣不變
(E)不用什麼前題假設，就可以直接推得這樣的conclusion...所以選(E)

我不選B的理由就一個

因為只給相對數字，也就是比例的變化，但沒有絕對數字的比例，也就是魚的增加從多少增加到多少，家畜從多少增加多少。進一步來說，魚可能是從100成長到109，而家畜可能是10000成長到10600，所以B的推論就不對了

但無法推斷說當地居民的飲食習慣有沒有因其他因素導致total consumption of fish 下降 ie) 魚死了? 吃魚導致疾病 等

我的想法是─
Ｄ的選項跟Ｂ類似：題目只說"魚的消費量上升4.5% & 家畜消費量上升9%"
　　　　　　　　　不代表這兩者皆為居民飲食固定的一部分(類似主食)
　　　　　　　　（比率上升不代表佔大多數）

E為什麼對阿? 既然1989年比1980年在吃魚方面又成長了許多...為什麼E說每人消費魚的量1989年比1980年少? 謝謝唷

因為人數成長更多囉
所以平均每人消費魚量反而就下降了

我原本也看不出E選項,
但看完大陸牛人的解法後,終於了解了!!!
以下提供CD大陸牛人的解法:
文章表示:
1. Fish consumption increased 4.5%
2. Poultry consumption increased 9%
3. Population increased 6%

因此,假設原來有10人那現在是10*(1+6%)=10.6人
而魚假設有10條則現在是10*(1+4.5%)=10.45條
於是我們要求算per capita consumption of fish則為10.45/10.6=0.98
有沒有發現與之前的10/10=1還少了0.02,因此可得出答案為E

大家有沒有覺得這題CR感覺在考PS…..
果然考個GMAT真的是要好好苦練成為百槍不入的大魔人才行!!….
唉…..看來還有好長的一段路要走…..
